As these stars tend to wear revealing clothing it sends messages like you need to be wearing less clothes to be considered sexy. The sex glorifying music industry perceives sex to be a male dominated culture and demoralizes women using names such as hoes or bitches. This type of media is designed for a specific target audience that is considered in trend with today’s society. That target audience is of younger generation people, where they are able to make explicit puns about porn or sexuality for a younger humor (K. M. Scott, 2008). Sexual puns such as these are used because in the media because it brings in both males and females. Sex sells, women want to be them and men want to be with them. According to the data of the Congressional Record, â€Å"Despite being shot twice, Carney planted the colors announcing, â€Å"Boys the old flag never touched the ground† (Congress, 2003, p. 5106). After the enemies shot Colonel Shaw who led the 54th and the soldier next to him who carried the Unio n flag, Carney did not let the flag fall disregarding his own intense pain from his wounds. It not only demonstrated his heroism and moral strength in the face of death but also encouraged other soldiers for continuing the struggle while some of them began to panic. â€Å"The sight of the national flag bolstered the soldiers’ courage and reminded them of the values for which they fought† (Reef, 2010, p. 62). When a soldier from a New York regiment offered his help in carrying the flag on the way to a hospital, Carney declined any assistance, admitting that only a soldier from 54th could do it. The human condition is like that of no other living species on earth. It is what makes us superior to every other living organism. These writers all are all polarizing in their own right and each has a unique perception of the human condition. Sun Tzu is one of the most important people in history in terms of war. He was an evolutionist and a pioneer on the battlefield. Sun Tzu’s principles are still widely used and valued to this day. Some of the things he believed in that I found particularly interesting while reading â€Å"The Art of War†. Tzu defended that his success on the battlefield wasn’t necessarily because of superior weaponry. He knew the importance of strategic planning and understanding your opponent. He was able to diagnose the strengths and weaknesses of his opposition and then plan accordingly to exploit those weaknesses on the battlefield. I think it’s impressive for someone who lived so long ago in a much different world that we live in today to realize that war is as much, if not more of a psychological struggle as it is a physical one. He was one of the first really intellectually minded generals in the modern world. It could be said that his best weapon was his brain and t hat was a weapon that would remain solely in his possession as long as he lived. Because Tzu is so keenly aware how there are many types of weakness that can make us vulnerable, I wonder what form of government he thought as the most effective. Would it be with a strong tyrant who appeared to have little weakness? Or would his government be diverse and portray an even-keel to outsiders? If Tzu were to rule would he try to conquer others? I don’t think I will ever know the answers to these questions but if I were to talk to Tzu these would be some of the things I’d ask him. Charles Manson to me is one of the most intriguing human beings to ever live. I always thought he was guilty and should be in jail until he dies but his take on his â€Å"guilt† is interesting. Manson sort of maintains in his book the fact that he, his physical self, did not commit any murders so he shouldn’t be in jail for murder. I think that society is set up in the way where people will hold others responsible based on their own perception of guilt regardless of the way the law is set up. Everyone in society saw Manson as a sociopath and a threat so they convict him and put extricate him from society. He is seen as a radical outcast and so we as humans see him as someone who is too vastly different than ourselves and so we find ways to remove them from everyone else. He was someone who people didn’t understand and that is why they were fearful of him. The overwhelming majority of people feel that murder is wrong so we punish those who do it. And the majority of people believe that those who murder should be ashamed and feel guilty. And people like Manson don’t feel that we are shocked for some reason but the reality is that this behavior is in our nature. Ever since the beginning of mankind we have been killing each other. Hundreds of millions of humans over the course of time have murdered one another. We as a race do this to each other and alwa ys have so I just don’t fully understand why we are surprised when people like Manson do the things that they do. I feel that there is a conflict of morals where Manson feels that since there is no blood on his hands that he isn’t guilty, but our society believes that he is still responsible. Allusion to sutures and the suturing of wounds in an ancient Egyptian scroll (circa 3,500 BC) is considered as the oldest existing surgical treatise. The term suture means to sew, which Hippocrates used in 400 BC. About 1000 years before Christ, the Indian medical book Charaka’s Samhita described many techniques of suturing including the clo sing of wounds by ant pincers in bowel surgery. Once the large black ants with powerful jaws clamped the edges of the wound together with their pincers, their bodies were twisted off (Snyder, 1976). From 100 BC Egyptian mummies have shown evidence of sutured wounds. By 30 AD, the Roman Celsus again described the use of sutures and clips, and in 150 AD, Galen used silk and catgut, and explained their use as sutures (Galli, 2011). Soon sutures were used to tie off tissues, through a process called ligatur e. In 165 AD, Galen who was physician to the Roman gladiators recommended their use for their wounds, to prevent paralysis. In 1555, Ambroise Pare, the French military surgeon changed his treatment of bleeding vessels caused by amputation, from hot irons and boiling oils to ligation. He also introduced the use of stitched linen adhesives to close saber wounds and to prevent scar formation.
